- A Historian Explains the Evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus
From the video description: "In this interview, historian and philosopher Dr. Gary Habermas explains the evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus. We also talk about NDE's (Near Death Experiences) and the Shroud of Turin." The evidence for the historical resurrection of Jesus can be very surprising for those who have never heard it. Although you can't discount the Bible as evidence in and of itself, while many believe His resurrection is a myth only named in the pages of the Bible, there's actually an abundance of extra-Biblical evidence as well. In this fascinating video, Dr. Gary Habermas, a historian who specializes in the Resurrection, explains all of the evidence and his body of work pertaining to it.
- Shroud of Turin Shocks Chemist By Carbon Dating Discovery
From the video description: "Was the Carbon Dating analysis done on the Shroud of Turin completed properly? Oxford scientists says "There is a lot of other evidence that suggests to many that the Shroud is older than the radiocarbon dates allow and so further research is certainly needed." - https://c14.arch.ox.ac.uk/shroud.html" The Shroud of Turin is a uniquely intriguing item. The purported burial cloth of Jesus Christ himself, and also the singularly most studied object in human history, claiming over 100,000 of rigorous scientific study with the aim to affirm or deny its authenticity. Nearly all the evidence ever gathered appears to point towards its undeniable authenticity as being the true burial cloth of Jesus, such as the abundantly accurate medical accuracy of the crucifixion image microscopic and pollen samples found in the linen to the incredible 3-dimensional properties that the image holds. However, many seem to nonetheless get hung up on the results of the carbon-dating test that was performed on a small sample of the cloth in the 1980's, which pointed towards a medieval time period. But could the carbon dating results have been inaccurate, or at least not indicative of the true age of the main body of the cloth which also contains the image? This really short video lays out some of the fascinating details behind the 1980's carbon dating results, which seem to point to its inaccuracy as a true dating mechanism for the cloth.
- City of David Top Finds #1: King Hezekiah's Royal Seal
The biblical palace and discoveries found in the ancient city of King David of the Bible unarguably solidifies Israel's historical claim to the city of Jerusalem. Over the years, many archaeological finds have been unearthed and further reinforce the Biblical truths of the Bible, but one seal in particular is truly fascinating - a royal seal from a direct descendant of King David himself - King Hezekiah. Check out this fascinating video discussing the discovery of the royal seal and see it for yourself!
- The Shroud of Turin 1988 Carbon Dating: Triumph or Travesty? (2 of 2)
From the video description: "The 1988 radiocarbon dating of the Turin Shroud famously dated this cloth to the period 1260-1390AD. At the press conference announcing this result, Professor Hall of Oxford University claimed that, “There was a multi-million pound business in making forgeries during the fourteenth century. Someone just got a bit of linen, faked it up and flogged it!“ . This announcement was front page news all around the world and today, most people accept that the carbon dating to be conclusive proof that the cloth was a medieval forgery. It seems the debate over the authenticity of this famous piece of linen is now over. Less well known however is the intense criticism that this test attracted from fellow scientists. Indeed one observer claimed that, “The carbon dating of the Shroud will probably go down in history as one of the greatest fiascos in the history of science”. This video tells the barely believable story of this controversial scientific test, detailing the seemingly endless catalogue of flaws and deficiencies that can be found throughout every stage of the carbon dating process. Much of the information presented in this video is drawn from a series of articles entitled ‘The Politics of the Radiocarbon Dating of the Turin Shroud’. We would like to thank author Joseph G. Marino for producing this comprehensive historical record of events connected to this controversial scientific test. Video extracts are from ‘Turin Shroud: The New Evidence’ produced by Darlow Smithson Productions Ltd." The radiocarbon date performed on the Shroud of Turin has been a point of controversy since it was shown to be from roughly the 14th century. Much of the debate around the authenticity of the Shroud centers around this singular piece of evidence, largely ignoring all of the rest of the extremely compelling evidence that otherwise points to the Shroud's authenticity as the true burial cloth of Jesus. But more and more evidence is coming to light that seems to oppose the original radiocarbon date. Could the original date have been an error? I've come to think that not only is it a real possibility, it seems extremely likely! Check out some of the evidence here:
- The Shroud of Turin: Proof of Authenticity Beyond Reasonable Doubt (1 of 2)
From the video description: "The result of the radiocarbon dating of the Turin Shroud in 1988 received worldwide attention and is widely seen as conclusive proof that the cloth was a forgery dating from medieval times. There have however been many other lines of scientific research over the years that have provided compelling evidence that the cloth is much older than the 14th century date given by the radiocarbon test. Furthermore, much of this evidence directly connects the cloth to the events commemorated during Easter. This video outlines a number of these lines of evidence and explains why the samples taken from the Turin Shroud for radiocarbon dating delivered an incorrect result. Video extracts from 'A Silent Witness' are by kind permission of David Rolfe, www.shroudenigma.com" I absolutely am fascinated by the Shroud of Turin! As the singularly most studies object in human history according to www.shroud.com, the evidence suggesting its authenticity is rather astounding. In fact, documentary filmmaker David Rolfe is so sure that it's authentic that he's put forth a $1 million proposition to the British Museum to show how the image was done if it was indeed a forgery (link about it here). Part of Mr. Rolfe's work can be seen in this next video, which will be a two-part post about the evidence for the authenticity of the Shroud. Check it out here:
- Archaeological Evidence and Jesus - Peter S. Williams
From the video description: "We live in an age of uninformed skepticism about Jesus. This talk will show how the physical discoveries of archaeology undermine common misconceptions about the existence of Jesus, the historical reliability of the Gospels, the historical credentials of central Christian beliefs such as the crucifixion, burial, and empty tomb of Jesus, and the existence of people who believed Jesus was God long before the 4th century church council of Nicea. See more at www.FOCLonline.org" This is such an interesting video. For the uninformed, it's relatively common to hear people argue that there's no evidence for Jesus' existence and all that exists are the stories of the gospels. You might even hear some people say that the gospels can't be verified at all either, because there's no evidence of their historicity. However, ample archaeological evidence that is only recently being discovered is beginning to shed light on the truth of the gospel narratives. The truth can in fact be discerned, and now it's only a few mouse clicks away for your to see! Check it out, here:
- 6 Facts that prove jesus rose from the dead
From the video description: "Jesus Christ claimed to be God in the flesh and He claimed that after He died, He would rise from the grave. Christianity stands or falls on the validity of Jesus’ resurrection. In this lesson, Kyle Butt gives '6 Facts Jesus Rose from the Dead.'" Many question the validity of the gospel accounts of Jesus' resurrection. It's reasonable enough to question this event, since it's not every day that someone rises from their grave. However, based upon the evidence, the case for the historical resurrection becomes clear. In this next video, see why the resurrection can be discerned with historical facts.
- Evidence for the resurrection
From the video description: "Dr. William Lane Craig shares the evidence we have for the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." This is so powerful... One of today's preeminent biblical scholars, Dr. William Lane Craig, presents us with multiple lines of evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. No credible scholar today doubts Jesus' existence as a first century Jew and preacher, but of course where people disagree is in His resurrection and associated deity. And although His resurrection is outlined in scripture, nevertheless, evidence can be be discerned to support the truth of the account. Check it out, below:
- Is there proof outside of the bible that jesus existed?
From the video description: "This video is part of a live Q&A with author and former devout Muslim Nabeel Qureshi on March 22, 2015 at Christ Community Chapel." In this short 3 minute video, Nabeel Qureshi points us to answers regarding evidence for Jesus' existence outside of the Bible. The short answer to the question if there's proof outside of the Bible that Jesus existed? -- Yes! Of course, he can't go over everything there is in only three minutes, but consider this a primer as he directs you to other works to check out and perhaps research.
- Recent research appears to confirm authenticity of shroud of turin
This short video is truly fascinating. 8 key pieces of research presented in only 8 minutes makes a compelling case for the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin as being the historical burial cloth of Jesus. This piece of cloth is the single most studied object in human history with over 100,000 hours of rigorous scientific study that has tried to confirm or deny its authenticity. If it was a mere hoax or medieval forgery, how then has it been yet to be disproved with that much study going into it? Research it for yourself and make an honest determination, but you can start here with some really compelling work:
- Reclaiming the True History of the Temple Mount
From the video description: "Host Erick Stakelbeck is in Jerusalem to see how a team of Israeli archaeologists is reclaiming the history of the world's holiest site, the Temple Mount. Plus, see how one Israel farmer is reviving ancient Biblical plants, and how an American President helped pave the way for the reborn state of Israel." While there of course can only be one true line of events in history, retracing what actually happened in the distant past sometimes becomes difficult if there is no written record. Even with written records, some things may be difficult to properly understand. When it comes to hotly contested places, such as the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, it becomes even harder in some regards since access to the location is restricted for even the most qualified archaeologists. While the Bible paints a clear picture of what happened there a couple millenia and more ago, one can't simply walk up and start digging where they please in Jerusalem. But nevertheless, the Temple Mount Sifting Project, which is an archaeological endeavor that for now is as close as we can possibly get to actually excavating the Temple Mount, is constantly turning up some amazing finds that help paint a clearer picture of the true history of the holy site. See some of these amazing discoveries for yourself here:
- Ancient Artifacts Reveal Tyranny of Babylon's King Nebuchadnezzar
King Nebuchadnezzar's story in the Bible is one of infamy - a great warrior-king who conquered Jerusalem twice and was one of the greatest villains in the Bible. While we have many extra-Biblical artifacts and documents that paint a clearer picture of who he was, every single artifact that's uncovered only adds credence to the accounts. Watch this next video and see one of the over two thousand year old artifacts that help allude to the story of great tyrant.
